Applicants must have completed at least four years of high-achievement undergraduate or postgraduate studies in psychology within the past decade, including a four-year (or equivalent) sequence at first or upper second class level, or hold equivalent overseas qualifications recognized by the APS. Relevant face-to-face counselling experience or substantial training in counselling skills (e.g., Lifeline, Care Ring, tertiary counselling programs) is required. International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through an IELTS score of at least 7.0 overall with no band below 7.0, or equivalent qualifications such as the Swinburne EAP Advanced level certificate with a minimum of 75% overall and in all skills.
