Applicants must hold a recognised Bachelor degree (AQF level 7 or 8) in a relevant discipline such as mathematical sciences, physics, earth sciences, computer science, aerospace engineering, radiology, optical science, or other approved cognate fields. Alternatively, completion of the Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Astronomy qualifies. English language proficiency requirements include an IELTS overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0, or equivalent measures such as Swinburne’s EAP 5 Advanced level with 70% overall and 65% in all skills.
