Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) from Universität Würzburg or an equivalent qualification from a recognized higher education institution. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with at least 24 ECTS in experimental physics areas such as mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, thermodynamics, atomic and molecular physics, solid state physics, nuclear and particle physics. Additionally, 22 ECTS in theoretical physics—including mechanics, quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, statistical mechanics, and thermodynamics—are required. A further 22 ECTS in mathematics covering analysis, linear algebra, differential equations, and complex analysis must also be documented. A thesis component is mandatory for program completion.
