Programme Structure
In their first year, students undertake modules in English literature, language and creative writing, which introduce the key concepts and issues in these areas. They will develop critical writing skills necessary in order to make the transition to English at university level.In their second year, students have the opportunity to develop greater understanding of particular historical periods, national literatures, genres, forms of creative writing and aspects of language and linguistics depending on their preferences and according to their program of study.In their third year students can select from a wider range of modules, deepening their knowledge of their chosen area, and developing expertise. Students can undertake a year-long dissertation on a subject of their choice (in literature, language or creative writing) and many also elect to take a work based learning module to develop their employability skills.Check out the full curriculumVisit programme website

Applicants must have ABB grades including A-level English. If A-level English is not studied, AS-level English with grade A is acceptable. A maximum of one BTEC/OCR Single Award or AQA Extended Certificate with a Distinction* (equated to A-level grade A) or Distinction (equated to B) is permitted. Irish Leaving Certificate requirements include H3H3H3H3H3H3/H2H3H3H3H3, with a minimum of H3 in English. Successful completion of an Access Course with an average of 70%, including 65% in Literature modules, is also accepted. A minimum 33 UCAS points, including 6 in English and 5,5 at Higher Level, is required. Applicants must hold a minimum 2:2 Honours Degree in any subject, provided all subject-specific requirements are met. All applicants must have GCSE English Language at grade C/4 or equivalent.
