For the MAT elementary track, applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, demonstrate employment verification in an accredited school, and secure a commitment from a qualified school-based mentor with at least three years of teaching experience. Candidates must also complete initial coursework before beginning teaching, pass fingerprinting and background checks to obtain a Kansas L.E.A.P. license, and meet all state-specific licensing requirements. For the secondary track, applicants need an undergraduate or graduate degree in the intended content area, a passing Praxis content test score, employment verification, a mentorship agreement, coursework completion readiness, and background clearance to qualify for a Kansas Restricted license.
