Programme Structure
Curriculum: Each year, Northwestern brass students and alumni amass prizes and honors at the highest level. Many trumpet students have placed first in the International Trumpet Competition. Tubists have won the Leonard Falcone Competition and the Portia International Competition. The brass section of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago—the training orchestra of the CSO—and the New World Symphony have included many current Northwestern students and alumni.

Applicants must meet general admission criteria, including a music prescreening or audition (if applicable), submission of a composition portfolio or Bachelor of Arts application materials via the Bienen School Supplement, and completion of the Common Application or Apply Coalition with Scoir. Additional requirements include a non-refundable $75 application fee or fee waiver, Secondary School Report with transcripts and counselor recommendation, academic teacher recommendations, Early Decision Agreement (if applicable), Midyear Report for Regular Decision applicants, and English language proficiency test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo) for international students.
