BIS Students are required to complete the BIS Introduction Course, BIS 3000 Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies. This course, taken at the beginning of the plan of study coursework, is designed to assist students understand interdisciplinary theory and how it connects their previous coursework to the courses in their plan of study.
Applicants must submit a completed Oakland University admission application, with an optional essay for additional consideration. A minimum high school GPA of 3.2 is required; students with GPAs between 2.5 and 3.2 may be considered based on academic preparation. Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are no longer mandatory for applicants with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Additional requirements include a strong academic record, completion of college preparatory courses, evidence of English language proficiency, and a positive academic trend.
