Applicants must hold a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and in their major. They are required to submit three detailed letters of recommendation, at least two from recent academic or creative mentors. A 3-5 page personal statement should articulate how reading has influenced their development as a writer. Applicants must specify their genre focus—Fiction or Poetry—in their Statement of Purpose, and include one writing sample of 10 pages of poetry or 20 pages of fiction. GRE scores are encouraged but not mandatory. If applying in both genres, include samples for each and indicate dual application.
