To establish an IPS, students must complete at least 30 credit hours at UM-Dearborn with a minimum GPA of 3.25. They must then identify a tenure-track faculty member to serve as a proposed advisor and submit a detailed proposal outlining their interdisciplinary major idea. The proposal should include a potential title and demonstrate academic coherence. A minimum of 24 credit hours at the 300-level or above is required, and if the faculty advisor is an Assistant Professor, approval from an Associate or Full Professor is also necessary. The program's title will appear on the student's official transcript upon graduation.
