    Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and complete discipline coursework equivalent to Michigan Department of Education-approved secondary certification programs. A passing score on the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) is required. For foreign language certification, candidates must pass the appropriate MTTC and an Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) with an advanced low or higher level. Additional requirements include a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0, completion of ES 2000 or equivalent teacher contact hours, coursework in ED 3200 and ED 4200 or 30+ hours of student teaching, a reflective essay, an interview, proof of identity and English proficiency, a non-refundable application fee, and proof of financial resources for the first year of study.
